What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a system of healing which aims to create harmony and balance in mind, body and spirit. It teaches that humans are governed by the rules and laws as of nature. By following nature’s rhythms, we can avoid imbalances in the body which can lead to disharmony and disease. The goal is to teach people how to obtain optimal health through a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship to the world around them.

How is Ayurveda related to Yoga?

Ayurveda is considered the sister science of yoga. It encompasses health and healing of the body and is preparation for yoga, which aims to purify the mind and intellect. They are ideally practiced together as a transformative tool to foster greater health and vitality.

What is an Ayurvedic Spa?

The Ayurvedic Spa helps clients achieve balance of mind, body and spirit through relaxation and self-care treatments.  Most treatments involve some form of massage. The style and flow of the massage is determined by what your body needs for balance and wellbeing at the time. Each treatment session is tailored to the individual. According to Ayurveda, combinations of the elements (air, space, fire, water and earth) called Doshas occur naturally in all of us. These elements should be in perfect ratio, but in most people they become unbalanced. We help you regain this energetic equilibrium by relieving your daily stresses with soothing and pampering therapies in a relaxing and tranquil setting.

What is Abhyanga? How is it different from regular massage?

Abhyanga is a warm oil massage that offers many benefits like released muscle tension, lymphatic drainage and nourishment of the skin from head to toe. It stands out from other massages treatments due to the generous use of oils and the focus on the manipulation of energy fields and the freeing of emotional burden. Abhyanga at iGita is the ultimate pampering experience that restores the body’s balance and promotes physical and mental health.
